Tete: Police detain a man in possession of almost 200 grenades and their detonators

The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) arrested a man this Thursday (31) in possession of 190 grenades in the Changara district, in Tete province, central Mozambique.

According to police spokesman Feliciano da Câmara, who spoke to journalists, the grenades, with their respective detonators, were being transported in a minibus, without a license and in conditions dangerous to human life.

"We believe that these are detonation devices used in mining, and they are also devices that can be used for other illegal activities, which could jeopardize normal order and public safety," said the spokesman.

According to Da Câmara, the inspection that took place as part of a roadblock in the city of Tete discovered that the explosive material came from neighboring Zambia.
