“Putin é um jogador astuto e implacável e só respeita a força”, diz primeiro-ministro polaco

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today that Russian President Vladimir Putin had once again demonstrated his cunning at the summit with US leader Donald Trump, where it became clear that Moscow only respects force.

In a post on the X-network, the Polish prime minister noted that the game at stake in the future of Europe and Ukraine has entered a "decisive phase".

"Today it is even more evident that Russia only respects the strong, and Putin has shown once again that he is a cunning and ruthless player," said Tusk, implying that the Russian President has managed to defend his interests more skillfully than Trump.

"That's why it's crucial to maintain the unity of the entire West," emphasized the Polish prime minister and former leader of the European Council.

Together with several European colleagues, Tusk issued a joint statement today which stressed the need for Kyiv to obtain security guarantees and for no limitations to be imposed on its army as part of an agreement.

He also stressed that a negotiated solution must recognize Ukraine's freedom to join the European Union (EU) and NATO (North Atlantic alliance), and must not include territorial concessions without Kyiv's consent.

In addition to the Pole, the joint declaration was signed by the heads of state and government of Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy and Finland, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the president of the European Council, António Costa.

The Alaskan summit, which brought Putin and Trump together on Friday, ended without a ceasefire agreement, as sought by the US President, who today came out in favor of reaching a peace agreement to end the war started by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. (Noticias ao Minuto)
