Nampula: Ex-guerrilheiros da Renamo acusam delegada provincial de ordenar mortes em Nacala-Porto

Nampula: Former Renamo guerrillas accuse provincial delegate of ordering killings in Nacala-Porto

A group of former Renamo guerrillas denounced on Wednesday (13) the death of three members and the serious injury of eight others, allegedly at the behest of the party's provincial political delegate in Nampula, Abiba Aba.
According to the ex-guerrillas, the victims were attacked with machetes in the port city of Nacala, in what the complainants call a "barbaric and politically motivated act".
"Three members were murdered and another eight seriously injured for contesting the leadership with no vision for the party's growth," the former Renamo fighters denounced at a press conference called to repudiate the internal violence.
Quoted in a Rigor NewspaperThe group's spokeswoman, Deolinda Paulo, accused Abiba Aba of having "ordered the purchase of machetes in the city of Nampula" to carry out the attacks.
According to Deolinda, one of the victims killed was Ernesto Velino, who had been demobilized and had been a security guard at the Nacala district office since the time of Afonso Dhlakama. The spokeswoman also named names of those allegedly involved in the attack, saying that the case had been reported to the Prosecutor's Office, but with no progress.
"We call on justice, civil society and academics to act. It is regrettable to see democracy being destroyed by personal interests, forgetting the sacrifice of thousands of Mozambicans," he said.
However, provincial delegate Abiba Aba has yet to react to the accusations.
