Millennium bim e CCFM apoiam exposição que transforma armas em arte e memória

On Tuesday, August 12, Millennium bim and the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center (CCFM) inaugurated the exhibition "The Soothsayer of the Manufacturers of Poverty", by Mozambican artist Gonçalo Mabunda and curated by photographer Mauro Pinto..

It is an exhibition of works that reflect on war, power, history and the transformative potential of art.

The exhibition, which opened to the public yesterday, August 13, in the CCFM's exhibition hall, and which will run until October 18, symbolically celebrates the 50th anniversary of Mozambique's independence, the 30th anniversary of the CCFM and Millennium bim, as well as the 50th anniversary of the artist himself.

"I'm 50 years old and the CCFM is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The idea was to bring these moments together. The exhibition conveys many messages, and poverty exists every day, but never in the same way. Art allows me to talk about it and reach many places in a short time," said Gonçalo Mabunda.

On the occasion, Millennium bim's director of corporate and investment banking, Januário Valente, highlighted the significance of the exhibition in the context of the Bank's social and cultural responsibility, referring to the man's futuristic and creative vision.

"What Gonçalo Mabunda proposes goes far beyond art. It is an ethical and aesthetic call for us not to forget where we came from and to imagine, with lucidity and courage, where we want to go. By transforming instruments of destruction and pain into art, Mabunda gives shape to a more humane, resilient and creative vision of the future. And that vision is an inspiration to us," said Januário Valente.

In addition, for Millennium bim, the joint support of this initiative is part of a strategy to enhance Mozambican artistic creation, noting that Mabunda is currently represented in internationally renowned collections such as the Centre Pompidou, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Brooklyn Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
