Government challenges EDM to speed up electricity grid expansion projects

The Prime Minister, Benvinda Levi, recommended this Saturday (30) that Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) speed up work to meet the "Energy for All" target, with a special focus on the central and northern regions of the country..
She was speaking during her visit to the State Business Sector (SEE) pavilion, as part of the 60th edition of the Maputo International Fair - FACIM 2025, which ends today, Sunday.
According to a NewsOn the occasion, she stressed that "universal access to energy is essential for Mozambicans to actively participate in the country's development by boosting small everyday economic activities".
During the visit, the minister received financial information about the company. According to the Institute for the Management of State Holdings (IGEPE), EDM is currently one of the most solid public companies and has already started paying dividends to the state.
