Gonçalo Mabunda presents "The Soothsayer of the Manufacturers of Poverty"

"The Soothsayer of the Manufacturers of Poverty", by Gonçalo Mabunda, is the title of the upcoming exhibition at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center in Maputo City.
Curated by Mauro Pinto, the exhibition will open on Wednesday next week, August 13, at 6pm, in the CCFM's Exhibition Room, and can be visited until October 18, according to a press release.
Mabunda's new show is part of the CCFM's 30th anniversary celebrations and the 50th anniversary of Mozambique's independence. It also celebrates the 50th birthday of Gonçalo Mabunda, an artist with an established career on the national and international art scene, whose history is closely linked to the CCFM.
Recognized nationally and internationally for his emblematic sculptures made from decommissioned weapons - such as thrones, masks and anthropomorphic figures - Mabunda's work is marked by a reflection on war, collective memory and the mechanisms of power, fusing political criticism, contemporary art and African cultural heritage.
