BCI and partners reinforce child protection messages

On Wednesday, August 13, the 25 de Junho Primary School on Mozambique Island hosted an educational talk on child protection, on the theme "My rights, my duties: Being a child with pride and respect".
The event was promoted by the BCI, through its Media Library in the northern province of Nampula.
Aimed at 5th and 6th graders, the initiative brought together around a hundred children, with the aim of raising awareness among the younger generation about the prevention of child violence, as well as promoting a culture of attention, care and denunciation of behavior that undermines the well-being of minors.
The session was attended by members of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), through the Section for Attending to Families and Minors who are Victims of Violence, from the Mozambique Island District Command, and two representatives of the Foundation for Community Development (FDC).
For Faruk Abdulgafur, the BCI's representative, much more than just a meeting, the action was a convergence of efforts around a noble cause: child protection.
"The playful approach adapted to the age group not only imparted knowledge, but also sowed essential values for life in society," she said.
He added: "This initiative goes beyond raising awareness: it is the materialization of BCI's commitment as a support bank, reaffirming its active role in the country's development and in promoting the well-being of the communities in which it operates."
Teacher José Mandenga Filipe, from the 25 de Junho Primary School, stressed the significance of the event for the school: "It's an honor to host this initiative, as it recognizes our commitment to an education that goes beyond the educational sphere, an integral formation that cultivates values such as respect, citizenship and awareness of children's rights and duties."
The educator also highlighted the transformative impact of the activity: "this action creates bridges between the school, families and the community, reinforcing our mission of forming aware citizens.
For the students, it's an awakening to the relationship between rights and responsibilities. For society, it's a step towards building a fairer and more supportive future". In a tone of gratitude, he concluded: "This investment in our children reflects a remarkable social sensitivity.
May this partnership inspire other institutions to join this cause: to prepare the new generations not just to learn, but to live together and positively transform the world they will inherit."
This action reinforces BCI's commitment to sustainable development, as well as the protection of the fundamental rights of Mozambican children.
